Jalandhar: Periodic testing will be conducted today at the power substation in Jalandhar’s Urban Estate Phase 2. Due to this, power supply will be completely shut off from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This shutdown will result in power outages for an hour in several major residential and commercial areas, including Jalandhar Heights Phase 1 and 2, Curo Mall, Mithapur, and Greenwood Avenue.

The Electricity Department apologizes to consumers for the inconvenience and appeals for their cooperation during this time. The Protection Division of the Punjab Power Corporation conducts periodic special inspections to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the grid and substations. In this regard, periodic testing will be conducted today at the 66 kV Urban Estate Phase 2 substation.

Testing Aimed at Preventing Future Faults

During this time, technical teams will thoroughly inspect the substation’s equipment to identify potential technical flaws in time and prevent major faults in the future. Although the shutdown will only last for an hour, power supply will be temporarily disrupted in many busy and densely populated areas of the city.

Areas to Be Affected

According to a list released by the electricity department, the main areas affected by this shutdown include prominent residential societies like Jalandhar Heights Phase I and Phase II. Additionally, power supply will be disrupted during the scheduled time in areas like Curo Mall, Mithapur, Greenwood Avenue, Royal Residency, and Vishal Garden.

The list of affected areas is not limited to this area. Residents of Vijay Colony, New Arora Colony, Mota Singh Nagar, Garden Colony, and Ravinder Nagar will also face power outages. Furthermore, other neighborhoods and surrounding areas adjacent to these colonies will also experience power outages for the specified period.

Department Appeals for Public Cooperation

Power Corporation officials have appealed to consumers for cooperation during the scheduled shutdown. The department advises that all necessary electrical work, including water replenishment, be completed before 10 a.m. The department says that power supply will be restored without unnecessary delay once the testing is complete.
