Online Attendance Tracker System Launched in Punjab Schools

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has implemented an online attendance tracking system in approximately 18,000 government schools across the state. Under this system, any student absent from school will be immediately notified by a message to their parents.

Parents will receive alerts on absenteeism
According to this new system, if a child misses school for three consecutive days, the school management will call the parents. If absenteeism continues, district and headquarters officials will intervene within 15 days.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains stated that this system will enable better monitoring of both student safety and attendance. He added that this initiative will cover approximately 3 million students studying in government schools. The “Samarth Project” has also been launched.

Claim of timely delivery of books
The Education Minister stated that previously, books used to arrive late at schools, forcing children to study from photocopies. However, the government has now improved this system. This year, books were delivered to schools in February, and on April 1st, they were distributed to students in bundles, similar to private schools.

Punjab Tops in Education
According to the Education Department, Punjab has ranked first in the country in the PARAKH 2024 survey. Numerous reforms over the past few years have led to positive changes in schools.

The government has increased the education budget to ₹19,279 crore and established 118 modern schools under the ‘School of Eminence’ scheme. Additionally, teachers and principals have been trained in Singapore, Finland, and IIM Ahmedabad. Over 14,500 new teachers have been recruited.
