“Only BJP can save Punjab from the present crisis; give one chance to PM Narendra Modi and bring a Double-Engine Government to Punjab”: Ravneet Singh Bittu

Baba Bakala Sahib: Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, while addressing a mammoth gathering at the BJP’s Rakhar Puniya political conference, said that Punjab today stands at a decisive crossroads and only the Bharatiya Janata Party can pull the state out of the crisis created by the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government.

Appealing to the people of Punjab, Bittu said, “You have given every political party an opportunity. Give one opportunity to BJP and Narendra Modi ji. The people of Punjab have seen the model of development in BJP-governed states. The same transformation can be brought to Punjab through a Double-Engine Government.”

Bittu said that when Narendra Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat, he transformed Gujarat into one of the country’s leading states, and today, as Prime Minister, he is working with the vision of building a Viksit Bharat.

“From Gujarat to Viksit Bharat, Narendra Modi ji has demonstrated that development, good governance, infrastructure and economic growth are possible when there is political will and decisive leadership. Punjab now needs the same model,” he said.

Launching a sharp attack on the AAP government, Bittu said that the situation in Punjab had reached an unprecedented stage where almost every section of society is protesting against the state government.

He said government employees, farmers, teachers and different sections of society are repeatedly taking to the streets with their grievances. Referring specifically to the Punjab Secretariat employees, Bittu said:

“Four years ago, the same Secretariat employees were showering flowers on Bhagwant Mann when he became Chief Minister. Today, those very employees are standing against his government. This tells you how much the people’s perception of this government has changed.”

“Today, it appears that every department and every section is on strike. Punjab cannot be run through advertisements and publicity. A government has to listen to its employees, farmers, youth, traders and common people,” he said.

Welcoming Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Punjab, Bittu said that the Union Minister, popularly known as ‘Mama ji’, had always remained accessible.

“Whenever there is an issue, we say that we have to go to Delhi. Go to Delhi whenever necessary, but today when the Union Agriculture Minister himself is in Punjab, why not take an appointment and sit across the table with him? Why not put your demands directly before him?”

He added that the Narendra Modi government had consistently maintained that farmers’ issues should be addressed through dialogue.

“The Agriculture Minister is here in Punjab. He is available. Meet him, present your concerns and find solutions through discussion. Farmers and the Union Government should not be separated by political barriers,” Bittu said.

Bittu also attacked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the controversy surrounding allegations against his wife.

He said the issue should not be reduced to political accusations and counter-accusations and demanded that the facts be brought before the appropriate legal forum.

“If these allegations are completely baseless, then let the entire matter be decided before the appropriate legal forum. Why should Punjab be left to speculation and political statements? The people have a right to know the truth.”

He demanded transparency and a time-bound investigation into the matter.

Bittu said Punjab was simultaneously facing a drug crisis, deteriorating law and order, unemployment and economic distress.

“The youth are looking for jobs, families are worried about drugs, businessmen are worried about law and order and government employees are worried about their future. Punjab needs a government that solves problems instead of managing headlines,” he said.

Taking aim at the Congress, Bittu said the recent controversy surrounding former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar had again raised questions about the party’s position on the 1984 anti-Sikh violence.

Referring to recent remarks by Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had publicly condemned Sajjan Kumar.

“If Congress leaders today feel compelled to condemn Sajjan Kumar, then the question is simple: why was there silence earlier? If Charanjit Singh Channi is serious about his position, then as a member of the Congress Working Committee he should raise the matter formally in the CWC.”

He further challenged Channi to seek an unequivocal clarification from the Congress leadership when Rahul Gandhi visits Punjab.

“When Rahul Gandhi comes to Punjab, Channi should ask him clearly where Congress stands on the 1984 victims and whether the party will apologise to the Sikh community and the families who suffered,” Bittu said.

Bittu also attacked Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, saying that the Congress was struggling with serious internal divisions.

“The condition of Raja Warring is such that questions are being raised about his ability to participate freely in programmes organised by his own party and interact with his own cadre. A party that cannot maintain unity within its own organisation cannot provide stability to Punjab,” he said.

Bittu also referred to his visit to a School of Eminence in Ludhiana on Thursday, saying the condition of the school exposed the gap between the AAP government’s publicity campaigns and the reality on the ground.

During his visit, Bittu inspected the school’s sports infrastructure, including the lawn-tennis courts, sports grounds and swimming-pool facility, and raised concerns over their maintenance.

“AAP talks about an education revolution, but yesterday I saw the ground reality myself. A school cannot become world-class merely through inaugurations, photographs and advertisements. Children need functioning infrastructure, maintained playgrounds, proper facilities and quality education,” he said.

Concluding his address, Bittu made a direct appeal to the people of Punjab:

“Punjab has given opportunities to Congress, Akalis and now AAP. But today Punjab is asking for change. Give one chance to BJP. Give one chance to Narendra Modi ji. Give Punjab a Double-Engine Government and see how the state can move forward with the strength of the Government of India behind it.”

He said Punjab could become a leading state in industry, agriculture, infrastructure, employment, tourism, education and investment if the state government worked in coordination with the Centre.

“The choice before Punjab is very clear — continue with protests, strikes, drugs, unemployment and law-and-order failures, or choose development, investment, jobs and good governance. Punjab needs a change, and BJP is ready to provide that change,” Bittu said.
