‘Operation Prahar’ intensifies in Punjab

Operation Prahar was launched in Punjab at the start of the new year. This is proving to be a powerful blow against gangsters by the police force. 795 raids were conducted on gangsters in a single day. The government and the police force have made it clear that gun culture, extortion, and daylight robberies will not be tolerated.

The government has ordered the police to be even stricter in the border districts. Operation KASO is also underway against drug traffickers in Punjab, and it has been 335 days since its launch. The government is committed to completely eliminating gangsters and drug traffickers with the help of the police forces by 2026. In Batala, DGP Gaurav Yadav reviewed these operations with the officers. He has given the police a free hand to dismantle the terrorist-crime nexus and extortion gangs.

The government has also announced that anyone providing accurate information about gangsters or traffickers to the police will be rewarded with up to ten lakh rupees. In the meeting held in Batala, the DGP took area-wise reports from all the officers regarding Operation Prahar against gangsters. DGP Gaurav Yadav has given a clear warning that no gangster or drug trafficker will be spared. Gangsters operating criminal gangs from abroad and carrying out crimes here will also be brought back to Punjab as soon as possible. They will be brought to justice, as has been done before.

We suggest that these criminals should not only be brought before the courts but also given swift punishment to instill fear of the law among illegal gun owners. Criminal and anti-social elements are eyeing Punjab’s youth to recruit them into their ranks. To make Operation Prahar successful, this audacity of the criminal elements must be met with a strong response. It is true that there is no place for crime in a developed state like Punjab. For this, emphasis should be placed on channeling the energy of the state’s youth in a positive and constructive direction. The fight against unemployment and corruption must continue, as it is the corrupt elements who provide protection to criminal gangs for their own benefit. With all these efforts, there can be no doubt about the success of Operation Prahar, which is being carried out with great intensity in Punjab.
