Opposition Unity in Pune: Congress & Uddhav Sena Strike Deal, Reveal Seat-Sharing Plan

Pune: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has gained strength ahead of the major municipal elections in Maharashtra. On Monday, the Congress and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) officially announced their alliance in Pune. The announcement was made by senior leaders Satej Patil and Sachin Ahir.

Seat-sharing formula: Congress to contest 60 seats, Shiv Sena-UBT to contest 45

According to the preliminary seat sharing, Congress will contest 60 out of 160 seats, while Shiv Sena-UBT has been allotted 45 seats.

Negotiations are ongoing for the remaining 55 seats, and leaders from both parties said a final decision will be announced in the coming days.

The final seat allocation will be made keeping in mind local equations and strong candidates, ensuring a strong challenge to the Mahayuti.

Ajit Pawar’s Big Decision: Contest PCMC Elections Together with Sharad Pawar’s Faction

On the other hand, on Sunday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar made a surprising political move, announcing that the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) and the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) would contest the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation elections together.

While campaigning in Pimpri-Chinchwad, he said, “People had many questions, but decisions have to be made in the interest of Maharashtra’s development. This decision will reunite the family. Seat details will also be announced soon.”

Interesting Change in Political Equations

This decision is significant because the NCP (Ajit Pawar) is currently part of the Mahayuti government, which includes the BJP and the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). The NCP-SP (Sharad Pawar faction) is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes the Congress and the Shiv Sena-UBT.

As a result, the political situation at the local level appears to be very interesting and complex.

Voting in 29 Municipal Corporations on January 15

Voting will take place on January 15 in Maharashtra’s 29 municipal corporations, including key cities like the BMC, Pune, and Nagpur.

Votes will be counted on January 16.

The Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be particularly fierce, with a fierce contest between the ruling parties and the opposition alliance.
