Orange alert for Dense Fog in Punjab, Gurdaspur remains coldest

Punjab and Chandigarh are now facing a double whammy of cold weather. A cold wave is currently sweeping through Ludhiana. However, the weather is clear there, as it is in Amritsar and Jalandhar.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for increasing cold and fog starting today, although the weather will remain dry. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature has dropped by 1.5 degrees Celsius.

This is 3.4 degrees Celsius above the normal temperature. Gurdaspur was the coldest place in the state, recording a temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius. Dense fog was recorded in Adampur and Bathinda. Bathinda recorded the highest temperature of 26 degrees Celsius.

Visibility recorded below 100 meters

According to the Meteorological Department, visibility was reduced to 100 meters in Adampur, Pathankot, Haryana, and Chandigarh. The minimum temperature is now between 5 and 10 degrees Celsius.

Dense fog is expected today in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, and Malerkotla, while Hoshiarpur, Firozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Rupnagar, and Mohali will also experience dense fog. The weather will remain dry.

Temperature to drop by four degrees in two days

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to remain dry for the next 7 days. The minimum temperature may drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the next two days, after which no significant change in temperature is expected in the state. A Western Disturbance will become active from the 27th, after which temperatures will rise slightly.
