The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several parts of Punjab and Chandigarh, warning of possible hailstorms, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds over the next 24 hours. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious as sudden weather changes could lead to disruptions, especially in open areas and during travel.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rainfall is expected across many districts, accompanied by gusty winds and occasional thunderstorms. The alert indicates the possibility of hailstorms at isolated locations, which may damage crops and affect outdoor activities.

The weather department has urged people to avoid standing under trees or near electrical poles during thunderstorms and to stay updated with official weather advisories.

Western disturbance triggers unstable weather
