Owaisi offers alliance to Akhilesh Yadav for UP 2027 polls, says ‘Don’t cry later’

Moradabad: Political activity has intensified ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has openly proposed an alliance to Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, saying that if the BJP is to be prevented from returning to power, negotiations must begin now.

Addressing an event in Moradabad,Owaisi stated that his party does not want the BJP to form a government again in Uttar Pradesh and is ready to contest the elections in alliance with the Samajwadi Party.

Owaisi said, “The Majlis does not want the BJP to form a government again in Uttar Pradesh. I am ready for an alliance. Now is the time for negotiations. There will be no benefit in regretting after the elections.”

He also noted that it is often alleged that when AIMIM contests elections, the opposition vote gets divided. To this, he stated that he is willing to contest the elections in alliance with the Samajwadi Party, not against it.

Owaisi reiterated that his fight is not against any religion, but for respect, equality, and justice. He said that if Akhilesh Yadav is willing to talk, he is ready to sit down and discuss issues of rights and justice with him.

Meanwhile, the BJP reacted sharply to Owaisi’s proposal. BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala termed it “vote bank politics” and said that Owaisi and Akhilesh Yadav are practicing appeasement politics. He described both leaders as “two sides of the same coin.”

It is noteworthy that assembly elections are due in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, and the Samajwadi Party is considered the main opposition party against the BJP.
