Padmini Kolhapure recalled the time when artists used to receive handwritten letters from fans.

She said that her father, a classical singer, would reply to every fan letter and send a photo along with it.

Change in fan culture

She said that times have changed and very few people ask for autographs.

On the impact of social media, she said, “It’s great because you can meet your fans, talk to them, and respond to their comments. In our time, we used to get fan letters, and my father would reply to everyone and send photos. Now, the era of photos is gone. Mobile phones are everywhere, and very few people ask for autographs.”

Traditional Connections Still Exist

She also shared that she still receives fan letters even in this digital age.

“I still receive many fan letters, in which they include my photo and leave a space for an autograph. I feel that connection still exists,” the actress said.
