Pahalgam terror attack: NIA files supplementary charge sheet, names Hafiz Saeed as an accused

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has named Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed as an accused in the supplementary charge sheet regarding the Pahalgam terror attack. The investigative agency has also submitted additional evidence to the court against other accused individuals linked to the terror network and the conspiracy behind the attack.

In the chargesheet filed before the NIA special court in Jammu, the agency charged Pakistan-based Saeed in his individual capacity and also as chief of the banned LeT. The agency also mentioned its active proxy organisation The Resistance Front (TRF)

He has been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. NIA has also charged Saeed with pursuing war against India and hatching a plot from across the border.

Let us tell you that the supplementary chargesheet, filed in continuation of the original 1,597-page chargesheet, provides details of Pakistan’s conspiracy, Saeed’s role and supporting evidence collected by NIA in the case through thorough scientific investigation and on-ground examination.

The earlier chargesheet was filed on December 15, 2025. In that the agency named Pakistani handler Sajid Jatt as an accused, along with three terrorists killed by security forces during Operation Mahadev in July 2025, as well as two arrested accused.

It also charged the proscribed LeT/TRF terrorist organisation as a legal entity for its role in planning, facilitating, and executing the Pahalgam terror attack.

Pahalgam Terror Attack and Operation Sindoor
Fifteen days after the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, the Indian Army destroyed nine terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7 under ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Several notorious terrorists were killed in the process. Following this, tensions between the two nations escalated, reaching a peak after two decades. Meanwhile, after Pakistan targeted Indian cities, India’s air defense system successfully thwarted the attempts and delivered a befitting response. In a retaliatory move, India destroyed 14 of Pakistan’s military installations. Rattled by this, Pakistan proposed a ceasefire, which was implemented by both nations following mutual discussions.
