New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has landed in serious trouble with the Pakistani government after a recent comment he made about Balochistan sparked outrage across the border.

Salman Placed on Pakistan’s Anti-Terror Watchlist

According to reports, Pakistan has declared the actor a terrorist and placed him under the ‘4th Schedule’ of its Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) of 1997 — a category reserved for individuals suspected of being involved in terrorism or activities deemed threatening to national security.

Being listed under the 4th Schedule means the person is placed under strict surveillance, with their movements, finances, and communications closely monitored. The designation also enables the Pakistani authorities to initiate legal proceedings against the individual if deemed necessary.

The Remark That Sparked the Controversy

The controversy erupted during the Joy Forum 2025 event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Salman Khan appeared on stage alongside fellow Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. While discussing the widespread popularity of Indian cinema in the Middle East, Salman said:

“There are people from Balochistan, Afghanistan, even from Pakistan. Everyone is working here.”

The issue arose from Salman’s separate mention of Balochistan and Pakistan, which many in Pakistan interpreted as implying that Balochistan is an independent entity rather than a province of the country.

Social Media Reactions and Political Fallout

The video clip of Salman’s comment quickly went viral on social media, sparking heated debates. While some users dismissed it as a harmless “slip of the tongue”, others accused Salman of making a politically charged statement.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest and most resource-rich province, has faced decades of unrest and demands for independence, making it an especially sensitive subject in Pakistan’s domestic politics.
