Pakistan: Police vehicle attacked in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, five policemen martyred

Islamabad: At least five policemen were killed when assailants attacked a police vehicle in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on Tuesday. The vehicle was on security duty for a private gas company and the attackers set it on fire before fleeing the scene.

Continuous attacks on police in KP and Balochistan

This attack is part of a series of escalating violence against police personnel in Pakistan’s border provinces. Previous attacks included sniper fire on a police station in Bannu on December 8th, and a bomb blast on a police vehicle in Dehra Ismail Khan on December 3rd, killing three officers.

Violence on the Rise in Pakistan

According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), overall violence in Pakistan increased by 46% in the third quarter of 2025. During this period, 901 deaths and 599 injuries occurred in 329 violent incidents, including terrorist attacks and security operations.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa most affected province

According to the CRSS report, 96% of the total violence occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. KP alone accounted for 71% of the total deaths. The report also noted a shift in the source of deaths, with security operations now accounting for more than half of the total deaths, indicating increased security efforts against terrorists.
