Quetta: Pakistani authorities have suspended mobile internet services for three days in several districts of Balochistan, including Quetta and Chaman, citing security concerns, according to local media reports on Thursday.
No Official Notification Yet
The Balochistan Home Department stated that the move was taken as a “precautionary measure” to maintain law and order, though no formal notification has been issued so far. Officials confirmed that services will remain suspended for three days.
Residents Face Major Disruptions
Locals say the internet blackout has severely affected communication, online business, freelancing, and digital services. Many residents described the disruption as a major setback to daily life and livelihoods.
Recurring Blackouts in the Region
This is the third such internet suspension in recent months. Mobile data services were earlier shut down in Quetta in October and in several Balochistan districts in August, both times citing security reasons.
Security Fears Behind Shutdowns
Authorities maintain that such decisions are based on intelligence inputs regarding potential threats and unrest in the province, which has seen frequent communication blackouts linked to law and order concerns.
