According to media reports, Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has claimed that more than 250 of its workers and leaders have been killed in police firing, while over 1,500 have been injured. Many of the injured are said to be in critical condition.
These protesters have been protesting Trump’s peace plan in Gaza since October 9th. Pakistan has supported this plan, which has increased tensions in the country. The TLP is opposing it.

TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi is leading the protest, which began a long march from Lahore to Islamabad as part of an anti-government, pro-Gaza, and anti-Israel campaign. According to a party spokesperson, Rizvi was also hit by three bullets and is in critical condition. He was taken to a nearby medical center where he is receiving treatment.
No official statement has yet been issued regarding the location of the incident or the number of casualties. A TLP spokesperson said the situation remains tense in many parts of Pakistani Punjab, and clashes are ongoing. The TLP has stated that it will not back down.
2 police officers also died
Violent clashes broke out on Monday between security forces and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protesters in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Two police officers were killed and dozens more injured. Reports indicate the operation began at 2 a.m. and lasted until 7 a.m.
In Muridke, police took strict action to stop the protesters. Security forces, including the Pakistan Rangers, used batons and tear gas. Protesters had set up camps at several locations, but violence erupted despite heavy barricades.
Police arrested more than 170 people during Saturday’s protests, which protesters allege were used by security forces against them. Media coverage is also banned.
Violence broke out when an attempt was made to arrest the TLP leader.
The protests began when Punjab police raided the TLP headquarters late Thursday night and attempted to arrest its leader, Saad Rizvi. Saad escaped, but several people were injured in clashes between police and Saad supporters.
Police closed roads in and out of the city. Police were deployed on major roads to prevent riots, and the Red Zone, which houses government offices and foreign embassies, was completely sealed off.
TLP was established in 2015
The TLP was founded by Khadim Hussain Rizvi in 2015. He worked in the Punjab religious department but was fired in 2011 for supporting Mumtaz Qadri, the assassin of Salman Taseer.
Following Qadri’s conviction in 2016, the TLP launched nationwide protests over the blasphemy issue. Khadim also made inflammatory statements against France. After his death in 2021, his son, Saad Rizvi, took over the organization.
