Search launched in Samba after Pakistani drone intrusion

Security forces launched a massive search operation in Samba district after a drone believed to be from Pakistan briefly entered Indian territory along the International Border. The incident heightened security alert in the region and prompted a coordinated response by multiple agencies.

Officials said the suspected enemy drone was spotted late Friday night in the Ramgarh sector of the district. The movement of the drone was observed for a few minutes before it disappeared from the area.

Following the sighting, security forces initiated an extensive search operation in several forward villages along the border to ensure that no suspicious material had been dropped.

Drone movement detected near border villages

According to officials, the drone activity was noticed over villages including Kandral, Abtal and Bahadurpur in the Ramgarh sector. Residents in the border belt reported hearing unusual buzzing sounds in the sky, after which security agencies were alerted.

The drone reportedly crossed the International Border between India and Pakistan and hovered over the Indian side for a brief period before disappearing.

Authorities suspect the drone may have been used either for reconnaissance or to drop weapons, explosives or narcotics. Such incidents have occurred in the past, especially along the border regions of Jammu.

Massive search operation launched

After the drone sighting, security forces including the Border Security Force (BSF), police and other agencies launched a large-scale search operation in the area. Troops were deployed across multiple villages and agricultural fields to scan the terrain for any suspicious objects.

Officials said the operation began early Saturday morning and involved checking fields, houses and open areas near the border fence. The aim of the search was to confirm whether the drone had dropped any weapons, drugs or communication devices.

Security personnel also intensified surveillance along the border to prevent any potential infiltration attempt.

Increased vigilance along the International Border

Authorities have stepped up vigilance across the International Border following the incident. Additional security patrols and monitoring systems have been deployed to keep a close watch on any unusual aerial movement.

Border areas in Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed several drone sightings in recent years, raising concerns about cross-border smuggling of arms, ammunition and narcotics.

Experts say drones are increasingly being used for illegal activities because they can quickly cross the border and drop payloads without direct human involvement.

Security agencies investigating incident

Security agencies are now analysing the incident to determine the origin and purpose of the drone. Investigators are examining radar inputs, surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts from villagers.

Officials stated that even though the drone was seen only briefly, precautionary measures are essential to ensure that no suspicious material has been left behind in the area.
