Security forces successfully eliminated a Pakistani terrorist during a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Uri sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was launched after intelligence inputs suggested the presence of terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC).

According to officials, troops deployed along the border detected suspicious movement in the area. As soon as the infiltrators were challenged, a gunfight broke out between the terrorists and the security forces. During the encounter, one Pakistani terrorist was neutralized by the joint team.

Operation launched after intelligence inputs

Security agencies had received specific intelligence regarding possible infiltration attempts from across the border. Acting on the information, a coordinated search operation was initiated in the Buchhar area of Uri.

During the operation, troops noticed suspicious movement near the LoC and immediately launched a counter-infiltration action. The suspected infiltrators reportedly opened fire when challenged by the security forces, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

In the ensuing encounter, one terrorist was killed, while security forces continued combing the surrounding areas to ensure that no other militants were hiding nearby.

Weapons and ammunition recovered

After the encounter, security personnel conducted a detailed search of the area. Officials reported that arms, ammunition and other war-like stores were recovered from the killed terrorist.

The recovery indicates that the militant group was planning to carry out terror activities after entering Indian territory. Security forces believe the infiltrator was part of a Pakistan-based terror network attempting to send militants into Jammu and Kashmir.

Authorities are examining the recovered materials and documents to identify the terrorist and gather further intelligence about the group behind the infiltration attempt.
