HP Panchayat Elections: 128 Panchayats in Himachal Pradesh Elected Uncontested; to Receive ₹25 Lakh Each

Ahead of the Panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh, 128 Panchayats have been elected unopposed. These Panchayats will each receive a grant of ₹25 lakh. With Friday marking the final deadline for the withdrawal of nominations, the field of candidates has now become clear.

According to the figures released so far, Shimla district leads the tally with the highest number 42 Panchayats elected unopposed. Additionally, figures indicate that 28 Panchayats in Sirmaur district, 12 in Solan, and 18 in Kinnaur district have been elected unopposed.

In Bilaspur district, only one Panchayat was elected without opposition. Furthermore, 27 Panchayats from Lower Himachal were elected unopposed through mutual consensus.

17 Panchayats Included in Lahaul-Spiti
Among these, Lahaul-Spiti accounts for the highest number, with 17 Panchayats. Consensus was reached in 8 Panchayats in Lahaul, 9 in Spiti, 3 in Kullu, 1 in Chamba, 1 in Mandi, 1 in Kangra, and 5 in Una. In Kullu district, one Panchayat each from the Nyoli, Shiah, and Ani blocks was elected unopposed. In Chamba district, the Karwal Gram Panchayat (under the Saluni Development Block) was declared elected unopposed; similarly, the Golanwa Panchayat (under the Chauntra Development Block) in Mandi district was also elected without opposition. Likewise, in five Panchayats of Una district—Nichla Pandoga, Jakhewal, Bohru, and Gram Panchayat Udaipur—the Pradhan (Head), Up-Pradhan (Deputy Head), and Panch representatives were selected unanimously. Una’s Poona Binebal Panchayat was also elected unanimously.

Finally, the Bagli Panchayat, located in the Pragpur block of Kangra district, was elected unopposed.
