Panipat: Business of Killing Unborn girl child by couple at clinic; Machine and Medicines Sealed

In Sector-25 of Panipat a couple was running an illicit racket involving the killing of unborn daughters in the womb.

The PNDT team exposed this operation late Monday night, around 11:00 PM, on the third floor of the Arjun Medicare Store located in Lane 25, Krishna Garden, Sector-25. The couple managed to evade the team and fled the scene. The team has seized the abortion machine, medicines, and instruments used in the procedure. Acting on a complaint filed by the Health Department, the Chandni Bagh police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the couple.

PNDT Nodal Officer Dr. Lalit Kundu stated that the department had received intelligence regarding the performance of abortions at the Medicare store situated in Lane No. 25, Krishna Garden, Sector-25. They arranged for a decoy operation, allocating a sum of ₹5,000 for the purpose.

When the decoy made contact, they were met by a woman named Reena Malik. Reena Malik scheduled an appointment for them for 7:00 PM on Monday evening. The Health Department team arrived at the location alongside the decoy, having made all necessary preparations. Around 8:30 PM, Reena Malik escorted the decoy to a room situated on the third floor of the store to perform the abortion.

The decoy was administered an anesthetic injection in preparation for the procedure. Upon receiving the pre-arranged signal, the team immediately rushed to the spot. Inside, they discovered an abortion machine, a bag filled with surgical instruments, and various medicines. The team apprehended Reena Malik and her husband, Sonu, at the scene.

While the team was in the process of sealing the machine and medicines, as well as documenting the evidence, Reena Malik and Sonu managed to outwit the team and escape. The team pursued them for a short distance, but the couple ultimately eluded capture. The team comprised PNDT Nodal Officer Dr. Lalit Kundu, along with fellow PNDT Nodal Officer Dr. Abhayanandan Vats, Dr. Jyoti, and Dr. Vishal Kaushik.
