Scooter found near Panipat canal, cartridges in bag

In Samalkha, Panipat district, there was a commotion on Wednesday morning near the Namunda Canal bridge from Narayan when passersby saw a scooter and a weapon lying in a suspicious condition. On the road leading towards Dindar, a black electric scooter was parked along the canal, turned on, with the key still in it. The discovery of a licensed revolver and a student’s bag nearby has heightened fears of some untoward incident in the area.

Passerby informed Dial 112

According to information, a passerby who went out for a morning walk saw that the scooter was facing the direction of Gannaur and was in a switched-on condition. Seeing a bag and a revolver lying near the scooter, he immediately called Dial 112. Upon receiving the information, Samalkha Police Station in-charge Deepak Kumar arrived at the spot with his team. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the CIA-1 team was also called in for investigation.

Revolver: A licensed revolver was found at the scene, which, upon inspection, was found to have two spent cartridges.
Cartridges: Upon searching the bag, 4 live cartridges were recovered.
Student’s belongings: Inside the bag, a 12th-grade mathematics book, a notebook, 4-5 pens, and a box containing glasses were found.
Other items: Chocolate wrappers and a scooter remote key were also recovered from the scene.
Suicide or accident, teams engaged in investigation

With a scooter parked near the canal and a revolver with spent cartridges found, the police are viewing this in connection with either a suicide or a major incident. The discovery of 12th-grade books raises the suspicion that the scooter rider could be a student. The police are now trying to identify the owner based on the scooter’s number and the license of the revolver.

Search operation conducted in the areas – Police

Samalkha Station In-Charge Deepak Kumar said that all the items have been taken into possession. A search operation is being conducted in the surrounding areas to find out whether the person riding the scooter jumped into the canal. For now, identification is being done through the missing report and the documents of the scooter.
