Panipat handloom factory fire, short circuit suspected

Panic broke out on Friday morning in Sector-25 Part-2 of the industrial area of Panipat city when a sudden massive fire broke out at JK Handloom House. The fire, which started around 7:30 in the morning, quickly escalated and engulfed the entire building. The relief was that the number of workers in the factory was low at the time of the incident, so there was no loss of life.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was first seen on the top floor of the factory. Since the handloom factory had a large quantity of yarn, fabric, and other flammable raw materials, the fire spread across the entire floor within seconds. The black smoke could be seen in the sky from several kilometers away.

At the time the fire broke out, some workers had already arrived at work. Seeing the intensity of the fire, the workers risked their lives to start removing finished goods and raw materials from the lower parts of the factory. The factory owner immediately informed 112, after which the first fire truck arrived at the scene and took charge.

Work stopped in neighboring factories, strong safety arrangements

The fire was so intense that there was a fear that the flames might reach the adjacent factories. The police, who arrived at the scene, advised the neighboring factory owners to keep work suspended until the fire was brought under control for safety reasons. Neighboring entrepreneurs and their employees are also helping to prevent the fire from spreading using pipes and firefighting equipment on their own.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear

So far, the cause of the fire has not been determined, but it is suspected that this incident may have occurred due to a short circuit. Fire brigade vehicles are also reaching the spot to completely extinguish the fire. It is estimated that goods worth lakhs of rupees stored in the factory have been burned.
