Panipat: Speeding Dumper Collides with Bike; Pregnant Woman Dies, one critically injured

On Tuesday, near Raksera village in the Panipat region, a sand-laden dumper truck ran over a motorcycle. In this tragic accident, the woman riding the motorcycle died on the spot, while her husband sustained critical injuries. The deceased woman has been identified as Preeti (23) from Hathwala village. She was approximately eight months pregnant. The dumper driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.

According to reports, Sandeep Jangra, a resident of Hathwala, was taking his wife, Preeti, to Gannaur to seek medical treatment. While they were in Raksera, a speeding dumper truck rammed into their motorcycle from behind.

Due to the driver’s excessive speed and probable negligence, the collision was so severe that the woman was thrown several feet into the air before landing beneath the dumper’s wheels, resulting in her death. Her husband, Sandeep, also sustained serious injuries. After receiving preliminary treatment, the injured man was transferred to a nearby hospital.

Following the incident, local villagers have expressed strong outrage against the administration. The villagers allege that illegal sand mining from the Yamuna River has been rampant for a long time in the Raksera, Budhanpur, Karkoli, Simbhalgarh, and Hathwala regions. They stated that due to this illegal mining, speeding and out-of- control dumper trucks race through local lanes and roads, posing a constant threat to both life and property.

The villagers further claim that they have repeatedly appealed for action by submitting complaints—both through written memorandums and delegations—to local officials, including the SDM, Deputy Commissioner, and the local MLA, as well as to higher authorities; however, no effective measures have been taken to address this issue to date.
