Panjab University Registrar Prof Yajvender Pal Verma to Highlight Key Concerns at MoE Meeting in Delhi Tomorrow

Chandigarh: Amid ongoing student protests and rising concerns over administrative delays, Panjab University Registrar Prof Yajvender Pal Verma on Thursday announced that he, along with the Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor, will meet officials from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Chancellor’s Office in Delhi on Friday to present the university’s current challenges and seek urgent intervention.

In a statement, Prof Verma said the high-level meeting aims to brief the Centre about the “current situation” at Panjab University, where students and several campus bodies have raised questions regarding the academic schedule, administrative decisions, and the pending Senate process. He added that the university has already communicated the schedule of Senate-related activities to the concerned departments and has kept students informed about all developments.

Acknowledging the tension simmering on campus, Prof Verma appealed to students to remain patient while the university administration works toward a resolution. “We will try to find a solution as soon as possible. Our aim is to improve the academic environment of Panjab University,” he said.

The meeting comes at a crucial moment, as students continue to stage demonstrations demanding clarity on governance issues and timely conduct of academic procedures. University officials believe that Friday’s discussions with the Ministry of Education could pave the way for administrative clarity and help ease unrest.

The Registrar and Vice-Chancellor’s office are expected to present a detailed account of the university’s concerns and request the Centre’s support in resolving procedural bottlenecks. Officials say they are hopeful that the meeting will lead to concrete steps toward restoring normalcy on campus and strengthening the institution’s academic framework.
