Passenger Arrested for Hoax Bomb Alert at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: In a case of a fake bomb scare, a 58-year-old passenger was arrested at Mumbai airport for allegedly creating chaos with a hoax bomb alert, police said.

Accused Creates Panic at Boarding Gate
According to officials, the accused, Shanti Kothari, was stopped by immigration officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport while trying to board a Mumbai-Delhi flight. Kothari allegedly screamed that a bomb was planted in the Mumbai-Ghaziabad flight, causing panic among passengers and staff.

FIR Registered, Investigation Underway
Sahar Police have registered an FIR against the accused under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 125, 351(2), 353(1)(b). Authorities are investigating Kothari’s background and the motive behind the hoax.

Previous Hoax Bomb Incidents Across India
Officials highlighted that bomb threats and suspicious emails have occasionally prompted evacuations across the country, including the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and various courts, as well as schools in Delhi. In all cases, no explosives were found, and the threats were declared hoaxes.
