Over 25 injured after bus returning from wedding collides with divider near Nurpurbedi bus stand

A bus returning from a wedding in a village near Kiratpur Sahib, met with a major accident near the Nurpurbedi bus stand. More than 25 passengers, including women, children and men, were injured when the bus overturned. Many of the injured are said to belong to different villages of the Nurpurbedi block.

According to the information received, when the bus reached near the Nurpurbedi bus stand in the evening, the driver got confused due to the lack of lighting facilities on the main divider.

During this, the two left tyres of the bus went up on the divider, and within a few seconds, the bus overturned in the middle of the road. The accident was so violent that many passengers sitting in the bus were injured and stuck on the floor, between the seats and near the windows.

Police were informed after the collision 

As soon as the information about the accident was received, a police team led by Nurpurbedi police station in-charge Rohit Sharma immediately reached the spot. The police, with the help of local people, rescued the passengers trapped in the bus and admitted the injured to various private hospitals in Noorpurbedi. The police have started an investigation into the cause of the accident and have normalised the traffic by moving the bus to the side of the road.

Locals also said that the lack of lighting in the bus stand area was the main reason for the accident. Traffic on the road remained affected for some time after the accident, which was later controlled and reopened by the police.
