Cloudburst in Pathankot Drops Temperature by 8°C; Heat Relief, Rain Alert for 5 Days

Wednesday morning brought great relief to the people of Pathankot, who have been enduring scorching heat for more than a week. Due to early morning drizzle and cool winds, the weather completely changed. A significant drop of 8 degrees Celsius was recorded in the maximum temperature, providing people a respite from the sweltering heat.

On April 27, the city’s temperature in Pathankot had reached 40 degrees Celsius. However, on Wednesday, it dropped to 32 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature is likely to fall by another 3 to 4 degrees in the next 4-5 days.

Rain occurred in the outer areas on Tuesday as well

On Tuesday too, heavy rain was recorded in the outskirts of the city such as Mamoon, Dibber Gharat, and Symbol Chowk. The light humidity in the city caused discomfort, but the drizzle at 11 AM and the winds that blew in the afternoon brought coolness to the weather.

The weather will be pleasant for 4-5 days

The Meteorological Department has indicated that relief is likely to continue for the next 5 days due to the activation of a ‘Western Disturbance.’ During this period, dusty winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 60 km per hour may occur between April 30 and May 2. Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected intermittently until May 4.

Worries etched on farmers’ foreheads

While the general public is enjoying the rain, farmers are worried. In the markets, wheat crops are lying under the open sky. Farmers say that if the lifting of the crop is not done soon, the rain could spoil the grain.
