Pathankot Youth Duped of ₹6.50 Lakh; Lured with False Promise of Job in Cyprus

Another case of fraud involving agents who lure people with the dream of earning money abroad has come to light. Two individuals swindled a young man from Pathankot out of ₹6.50 lakh by falsely promising him a job in Cyprus. Upon realizing he had been defrauded, the victim filed a complaint with the police.

In his complaint, the victim stated that even after reaching Cyprus, he was not placed in any job. Due to the complete lack of assistance there, the young man was forced to return home. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against two individuals from Jalandhar and have initiated an investigation.

Lured with the Promise of a Job in Cyprus
In his complaint to the police, Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Pathankot, stated that two individuals conspired to assure him that they would secure him a lucrative job abroad. In exchange for this promise, the accused extorted a total of ₹6.50 lakh from him. After receiving the money, the accused sent Rakesh to an associate of theirs in Cyprus.

Neither Work Nor Assistance Found in Cyprus
Rakesh Kumar further detailed in his complaint that, despite arriving in Cyprus, he was never assigned any work. Finding no support or assistance there, the young man was compelled to return to his home country. Consequently, he had to endure significant hardships while abroad.

Case Registered Against Two Individuals
Based on the statements provided by the victim, Rakesh Kumar, the police have registered a case against two accused individuals residing in Jalandhar. The accused have been identified as Prabhjot Singh and Gurpreet Singh, both residents of Jalandhar. The Pathankot police have registered the case against the accused under relevant sections about fraud and have commenced further investigations into the matter.
