Medical Student Murdered in Patiala PG; Blood-Soaked Body Found, Acquaintance Seen Leaving on CCTV

Patiala: A medical student was murdered in Patiala. His blood-stained body was discovered inside his Paying Guest (PG) accommodation. Injury marks on his head indicate that he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. The incident is believed to have occurred on Sunday night, although it only came to light on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Kamal Kumar, a resident of Bareta in the Mansa district. He was residing in a PG facility located in the New Lal Bagh Colony of Patiala while pursuing his studies. Upon receiving the information, the police immediately rushed to the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it to a hospital. The deceased’s family members arrived at the location late in the evening.

Father Says: Spoke to Son at 10 PM

The deceased’s father stated that he had spoken to his son over the phone around 10 PM on Sunday. At that time, his son appeared to be perfectly fine. He had told his father that he had already finished his dinner.

Acquaintance Suspected of Murder

Police investigations have revealed that a young acquaintance of Kamal, Mohit, had come to stay with him just a day before the incident. Mohit has been absconding since the murder took place. The police suspect that he is the one who committed the crime. Footage from CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity shows Mohit leaving the premises.

Murder Discovered on Monday

According to police officials, the discovery of the young man’s body lying inside the PG accommodation was made by locals during the day on Monday. Subsequently, the family was informed. The body has been sent to Rajindra Medical College for a post-mortem examination. The police are currently conducting raids in search of the accused, Mohit.
