Patiala: MLA Pathanmajra’s troubles mount further; Police now preparing arrest in Mining Case

The troubles for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, who is currently lodged in jail in connection with a rape case, appear to be mounting further. The Patiala Police are now preparing to arrest him on a production warrant in connection with an old mining case.

This case is registered at the Julkan Police Station, in which four individuals, including Pathanmajra, have been named as accused. According to Station House Officer (SHO) Balwinder Singh, the police will soon file a petition in court seeking permission to produce the MLA for interrogation.

Fugitive AAP MLA Pathanmajra arrested in Gwalior

Pathanmajra was arrested in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on March 25, 2026, following a period of nearly seven months spent absconding. Upon the expiration of his police remand, he was sent to jail under judicial custody.

It is noteworthy that a case involving charges of rape, fraud, and criminal intimidation was registered against him at the Civil Lines Police Station in Patiala on September 1, 2025. The victim had alleged that Pathanmajra married her by falsely claiming to be divorced, and subsequently raped her.

Following the registration of the case, he had gone into hiding. During an attempted arrest in Karnal, his accomplices opened fire on the police and pelted stones; a police officer sustained injuries during the incident, and the accused managed to escape.
