    Patiala Police Apprehends Two Accused in Connection with the Chitkara University Unrest Incident

    Patiala: In connection with the recent incident of student unrest at Chitkara University, Rajpura, during the intervening night of 25–26 September 2026, Patiala Police have apprehended/arrested two accused for provoking students by spreading misleading rumours through social media.
    Disclosing the facts spokesperson of Patiaia Police said that the arrested accused have been identified as Himanshu r/o Nangal and Aryan r/o Ambala.

    Following the incident, taking stringent action against persons involved in the incident, an FIR was registered at Police Station Banur and a wide-scale investigation was launched. As part of the investigation, the social-media activities and fake messages circulated through various social media platforms by students and other notorious persons were also thoroughly examined, said the police.

    During the investigation, it emerged that the arrested duo accused provoked and instigated students through various social-media groups by circulating and propagating misleading messages, which contributed to the escalation of the situation on the university campus.

    In total, 2 accused arrested and 10 others have been nominated in the FIR. Police teams have also been dispatched to various places to apprehend the other accused.

    Further investigation is in progress to identify more persons involved in spreading misinformation, instigating students, damaging public property, and obstructing public servants in the discharge of their official duties, and to ascertain their respective roles.

    Patiala Police remains steadfast in its commitment towards maintaining peace and public order.
