Patiala Police Arrest Two Alleged Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Associates, Recover 7 Pistols

Patiala: Patiala Police have arrested two alleged associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and recovered seven pistols and 23 live cartridges from their possession, police said on Monday.

Addressing the media at the Patiala Police Lines, SSP Harmandeep Singh said a CIA Staff team had set up a checkpoint in the Urban Estate area, where it arrested Tajinder Singh alias Fauji, a resident of Raunkla, and Rahul alias Dana, a resident of Haridas Colony in Nabha.

According to police, Tajinder Singh alias Fauji is a dismissed soldier of the 152 Sikh Regiment and has 10 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in Patiala district.

Police further alleged that in April 2022, Tajinder, along with his associates, was involved in the shooting death of kabaddi player Dharminder Singh Bhinda outside Punjabi University.

The SSP said the accused was allegedly in contact with absconding members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang based abroad and jailed gang associates. Police suspect the recovered weapons were intended for a major criminal operation.

The two accused were produced before a court, and police have initiated proceedings to seek their remand.
