Patiala:  A video of a tipper driver allegedly being assaulted and treated inhumanely in Patiala has caused a stir within the police department after it went viral on social media. The video shows some people locking the driver in a dog cage and assaulting him. It is alleged that the owner’s side acted in this manner after the damage caused by the tipper’s overturning.

In the viral video, the driver can allegedly be seen locked in a cage and being kicked. He was also allegedly forced to call the owners “brother-in-law.” The video also alleges the driver falling at their feet and begging for forgiveness and making derogatory remarks about their sister.

The matter did not end there. In the video, some people are seen pressuring the driver to give a favorable statement to the police. During this, he is also accused of hitting him on the head with slippers and shoes.

Viral Video Reaches Police

This video went viral on social media platforms, including Facebook, on Wednesday. The video mentions the owner of a Patiala tipper company and claims that the victim driver also works for the same company.

According to police officials, the dispute between the tipper owner and the driver was initially reported to the Patiala Anaj Mandi police station. However, the video of the alleged assault has now come to the police’s attention.

Patiala SSP Harmandeep Hans stated that the police have received the video footage. He added that legal action will be taken after the truth of the matter is ascertained.

Claim of Dispute After Tipper Overturn

Five to six people are seen in the viral video. The video claims that four people, including the driver, were allegedly intoxicated, causing the tipper to overturn, causing losses to the company.

The driver was then allegedly locked in a dog cage and beaten as a way of teaching him a lesson. The video also claims he was forced to call the owners “brother-in-law” and forced to fall at their feet to apologize.

The video also alleges the driver was pressured to give a statement in favor of the owners before the police and beaten with slippers. The tipper company’s name is also claimed to have been mentioned at the beginning of the video.

Demand for Action from the Human Rights Commission

A Facebook page sharing the video on social media has demanded justice in the case. The post appeals to the Human Rights Commission, SSP Patiala, and the Punjab Government to take cognizance of the matter and take action.

The police say that the true nature of the case will be clear only after an investigation of the viral video, and further legal action will be taken based on the facts.
