73,000 patients visiting daily in Aam Aadmi clinics: Punjab Minister

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Clinics initiative in Punjab has reached a significant milestone, with over 4.2 crore Outpatient Department (OPD) visits recorded since its launch on August 15, 2022, according to State Health Minister Balbir Singh.

Daily Footfall and Service Reach

The network of 881 clinics — comprising 316 in urban areas and 565 in rural regions — now serves an average of 73,000 patients daily, with each clinic attending to approximately 83 individuals per day.

Free Medicines and Diagnostics

These clinics offer 107 types of free medicines and 47 types of diagnostic tests, contributing to a total of 2.29 crore lab tests conducted over the past three years.

“Out of 4.2 crore visitors, 1.5 crore are unique visits, showcasing the broad accessibility of the clinics, while 2.7 crore visits are re-visits, indicating the trust and satisfaction of the patients,” said Singh.

High Patient Satisfaction and Drug Availability

A recent survey revealed that 98% of patients reported receiving prescribed medicines from the clinics.

Singh emphasized that officials have been instructed to maintain full stock of all essential drugs at all times.

Gender and Age Inclusivity

The clinics have shown strong gender-inclusive outreach, with 54% of OPD visits by women. Age-wise distribution includes:

• 13.9%: Children and adolescents (0–15 years)
• 61.3%: Adults (16–60 years)
• 24.8%: Senior citizens (above 60 years)

Financial Impact

The initiative has significantly reduced out-of-pocket healthcare expenses, saving citizens an estimated ₹2,000 crore since its inception.

“These clinics are actively breaking traditional barriers and ensuring equal access for all individuals,” Singh added.
