Pawan Kalyan’s strict order: Non-bailable case to be filed against YSRCP leader for road damage

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Pawan Kalyan on Monday ordered the filing of a non-bailable case against a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and others for allegedly damaging a road constructed under the ‘Palle Panduga’ scheme.

Pawan Kalyan took a strong stance on the incident of damage to the road between Ananthasamudram and Papakkagaripalle villages in Pullampeta Mandal of Tirupati district. He directed engineering officials to take strict legal action against YSRCP leader Subba Reddy for damaging government property.

Cost of damage to be recovered from those who damaged the road

According to official information, Pawan Kalyan held a meeting with senior engineering officials of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department on Monday to review the incident and subsequent action.

Officials were instructed to take action against those who damaged the road under the Revenue Recovery Act, so that the accused can be made to compensate for the damage caused to government property.

Pawan Kalyan said that destroying government property built for public convenience is a serious crime and strict action should be taken against those responsible.

Accused of plowing 100 meters of road with a tractor

Officials said that an FIR has been registered in this case based on information received from villagers. According to the complaint, Subba Reddy, with the help of another person, Venkatasubba Reddy, used a tractor to plow and damage approximately 100 meters of the road.

The road was built under the ‘Palle Panduga 3.0’ scheme and was completed just a week ago. ₹4.75 crore was spent on the project.

Instructions for arrest of the accused

Officials said that the accused were planned to be arrested and presented before a magistrate by Monday evening. Pawan Kalyan gave clear instructions to officials regarding action to be taken against those responsible in this matter.

He described the road damage as a malicious act of destroying infrastructure built with public funds. He also said that the politicians involved and those supporting them should be brought to justice.

The government also decided to make public the identities of those who damaged government facilities built for the public good.

What is the ‘Palle Panduga 3.0’ scheme?

‘Palle Panduga 3.0’ is the third edition of the Andhra Pradesh government’s series of rural development schemes. Its objective is to promote infrastructure and development works in rural areas.

Following allegations of damage to the road constructed under this scheme, the state government has directed strict legal action in the matter.
