Petition against Cockroach Janata Party, demand for early hearing: Court said – don’t be so emotional; party has 22.9 million followers on Instagram

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to immediately hear a demand to have the CBI investigate the activities of individuals associated with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).

The Cockroach Janata Party is a social media platform that emerged after India’s Chief Justice Suryakant’s recent cockroach remark. By 12 noon on Monday, CJP had 22.9 million followers on Instagram.

In court, the petitioner’s lawyer NK Goswami said that CJP is tarnishing the image of the judiciary. Following this, the bench of CJI and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and VM Pancholi said, ‘Do not take this with so much emotion.’

The petition has been filed by advocate Raja Chaudhary. He has also demanded an investigation of fake lawyers and fake law degrees associated with the protest. In addition, he has sought action against the commercialization of oral court statements made during recent proceedings in the Supreme Court.

Police stationed outside Deepak’s house in Maharashtra

Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijeet Deepak’s house in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, has police stationed 24 hours a day. DCP Pankaj Atulkar stated that this deployment has been done as a precaution.

He said that the issue of CJP is trending on social media, so to prevent crowds from gathering outside his house, this step was taken. However, he denied receiving any kind of official threat.

On May 21, the X account was closed, so a new one was created.

CJP’s X account had been blocked. When the old account was closed, it had more than 193,000 followers. The organization created a new account shortly after. Its name was given as ‘Cockroach is Back’ and the bio read – Cockroach don’t die, meaning cockroaches don’t die. By May 25 at 1:30 PM, the new X account had 227,000 followers. CJP has accounts on Instagram and X.

CJP’s website is still down.

Abhijeet had informed on May 24 that their party’s website had been shut down. Deepak had said on X at 1:14 PM – The government has shut down our website. Ten lakh people had registered on it. Six lakh people had signed the petition demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

However, this website is still down. When attempting to open it, the message ‘This site can’t be reached’ is flashing.
