PIB Debunks Viral Claim of PM Modi’s Resignation, Calls Letter Fake

New Delhi: After a purported letter claiming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation went viral on social media, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Thursday declared it completely fake. The PIB’s Fact Check Unit clarified that no such letter has been issued by the Prime Minister, nor does it bear his signature.

The viral letter showed the Ashoka Chakra symbol and the Prime Minister’s alleged signature. Many social media users claimed it to be genuine and claimed that the Prime Minister had resigned, citing “personal and political responsibility.”

PIB Urges People Not to Believe Rumors

PIB Fact Check posted on social media that the viral letter is completely fake and urged people to verify any information with official sources before sharing it.

The PIB stated, “A letter allegedly signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being circulated on social media. No such letter has been issued by the Prime Minister, nor does it bear his signature.”

Fake videos created using AI were also debunked

A day earlier, the PIB had declared some viral videos attributed to Prime Minister Modi as fake. These videos claimed that the Prime Minister had spoken about taking action against students protesting against the paper leak.

According to the PIB, these videos were created with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the content shown in them was completely misleading. The government appealed to the public not to trust such videos and posts.

Rumors intensify after Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation

This rumor of the Prime Minister’s resignation comes at a time when Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently resigned from his post amid alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.

The government has once again appealed to the people to trust only official government sources for any information related to the Prime Minister or other constitutional posts and to be cautious of unverified information going viral on social media.
