Plot to blow up Ferozepur-Jammu train in Punjab foiled: 17 associates of UK-based terrorist arrested; IED, detonators recovered

In a major operation, the Punjab Police has busted a terror plot. The Moga Police arrested 17 individuals and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), explosive materials, electronic detonators, and a 9mm Glock pistol along with a magazine from their possession.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the mastermind behind this plot is Iqbal Singh, alias Ravi Dhaliwal, who is currently residing in the UK and is allegedly involved in criminal activities. According to the police, the accused carried out a grenade attack on the Moga Sadar police station acting on his instructions. Additionally, a conspiracy had been hatched to cause a massive explosion by planting an IED on a train traveling from Ferozepur to Jammu.

The police have registered an FIR at the Moga Sadar police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

The Punjab Police stated that the investigation is ongoing. Raids are being conducted to uncover the entire terror network and identify other accused individuals and accomplices involved. The police affirmed that strict action against terror modules and anti-national activities within the state will continue.
