Bhopal: The upcoming PM Mitra Textile Park in Dhar is projected to generate 1 lakh direct jobs and an additional 2 lakh indirect employment opportunities once it becomes fully operational, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Tuesday.
The park is being developed in Bhainsola village of Dhar district.
Cotton Farming Legacy in Madhya Pradesh
Addressing a gathering at the Swadeshi Mela in Bhopal, CM Yadav underlined the deep-rooted history of cotton farming in the state.
“More than 6 lakh families in Madhya Pradesh are engaged in cotton cultivation, a tradition that dates back to the British colonial era,” he said.
Highlighting challenges faced by the industry, Yadav criticised the previous Congress government for failing to modernise existing factories, which, according to him, resulted in the closure of textile units and hardship for farmers.
Government’s Employment and Growth Commitments
Reiterating his government’s focus on economic revival, the Chief Minister stated,
“Our government is committed to rectifying this. We have pledged to create jobs for 30 lakh people in the Dhar-Jhabua region through this initiative.”
He stressed that the new textile park would become a cornerstone for regional development, not only by generating employment but also by improving infrastructure and skill training for the local population.
PM Modi’s Inauguration Visit
In what is being described as a significant boost for the state’s textile sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the country’s first PM Mitra (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park in Dhar.
Authorities are preparing for a large turnout at the event, with security measures already intensified.
Boost to Cotton Farmers and Industry Confidence
CM Yadav underscored the quality of the state’s cotton, stating,
“Our organic cotton will fetch premium prices in international markets, benefiting farmers directly.”
The project has already drawn strong industry participation, with 15 companies committing investments worth ₹12,508 crore.
The integrated park will host facilities for spinning, weaving, dyeing, and garment manufacturing, establishing a complete textile value chain.
A Symbol of Modern Industrial Growth
Praising the Prime Minister’s vision, Yadav said the textile park represents both economic opportunity and social upliftment.
“Under PM Modi’s guidance, we are turning challenges into opportunities. This park will not only provide jobs but also ensure holistic development in the region, including infrastructure improvements and skill training for locals,” he remarked.
The Swadeshi Mela, which celebrates indigenous products, served as the platform for the announcement and drew large crowds eager to hear about upcoming government initiatives.
