Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24, 2026, handed over more than 61,000 appointment letters to newly selected youth across India as part of the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela, a nationwide employment initiative aimed at creating opportunities and empowering young professionals. The event was held via video conferencing at 11 AM, connecting 45 locations across the country.
The appointment letters will enable successful candidates to join various government ministries, departments and organisations, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, Department of Higher Education, and others. These new roles are expected to strengthen the functioning of key public institutions.
The Rozgar Mela is a flagship initiative of the Government of India that highlights the administration’s focus on employment generation and youth empowerment. Since its launch, the programme has helped issue over 11 lakh appointment letters nationwide, making it one of the most expansive coordinated job placement efforts in recent years.
The initiative facilitates transparent and time-bound recruitment across government services, helping to fill vacancies in critical sectors and offering meaningful opportunities to young Indians from across different regions.
The 18th Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 45 locations across India, allowing newly appointed candidates from both urban and rural areas to participate in the event. PM Modi addressed the appointees and congratulated them on their achievement, linking the appointments with the broader vision of economic growth and nation-building.
Government officials noted that these positions will be key to strengthening public services and enhancing operational efficiency in several departments, reflecting the administration’s broader strategy of expanding public sector capacity while engaging youth in national development.
In addition to handing over appointment letters, the Rozgar Mela framework also emphasises the importance of skills training and professional development. Many new recruits will have access to structured training programmes like ‘Karmayogi Prarambh’ — an online learning initiative hosted on the iGOT Karma yogi platform that offers thousands of courses to enhance job readiness and performance.
Officials say that such training modules are designed to help fresh recruits integrate seamlessly into their roles, improve competency and contribute effectively to public service delivery.
