PM Modi in Lok Sabha: Over 3.75 Lakh Indians brought back amid crisis, strict action on LPG Hoarding

Speaking in the Lok Sabha regarding the conflict in West Asia, PM Modi stated that over the past two or three weeks, Mr. Jaishankar and Mr. Hardeep Puri have kept the House informed on the matter. This conflict is having an adverse impact on the global economy as well as on the lives of people.

He noted that the entire world is urging all parties involved to find a resolution to this crisis as soon as possible. This war has also posed unprecedented challenges for India, challenges that are economic in nature, linked to national security, and humanitarian as well. PM Modi further added that, as far as diplomacy is concerned, India’s policy remains clear.

    Opposed attacks targeting energy infrastructure

He stated that, right from the outset, India has expressed its concern regarding this conflict. We have engaged in discussions with the heads of state of all nations in West Asia. We have opposed attacks targeting energy infrastructure and civilian facilities. He added that India has continued its efforts to ensure the uninterrupted movement of Indian vessels.

India has consistently raised its voice in the interest of humanity and in support of peace. PM Modi emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy constitute the only viable solution to this problem. Since any threat to human life arising from this conflict runs counter to the interests of humanity, India’s endeavor is to encourage all parties to pursue a peaceful resolution.

Ten Million People Reside in Gulf Nations: PM Modi
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi also underscored that this region holds significance for India for yet another reason: approximately ten million Indians reside and work in the Gulf nations.

Furthermore, Indian crew members constitute a significant proportion of the workforce aboard the commercial vessels operating in the waters of that region. He noted that, for these reasons, India’s concerns regarding the situation are particularly heightened.

The Safety of Indians Is Our Priority: PM Modi
PM Modi further stated that, ever since the commencement of this conflict, necessary assistance has been extended to Indians residing in the affected nations. I have held two rounds of telephonic consultations with the heads of state of most nations in West Asia. All of them have provided assurances regarding the safety and security of the Indian community. He also emphasized that, tragically, some people lost their lives and others sustained injuries during this incident. We are providing necessary assistance to the bereaved families, and arrangements are being ensured for the medical treatment of the injured.

Every Possible Assistance Being Provided – PM Modi
Furthermore, PM Modi stated that whether they are Indians working there or tourists, everyone is being extended every possible assistance. Our missions are regularly issuing advisories. Here in India, as well as in other affected countries, 24-hour emergency control rooms and helplines have been established. Through these channels, people are being provided with prompt information. In times of crisis, the safety and security of Indians—both at home and abroad—have always remained our top priority.
