PM Modi Arrives in Jordan, Begins Three-Nation Tour

Amman: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Amman on Monday afternoon, marking the start of his three-nation tour that will also take him to Ethiopia and Oman. In a special gesture, Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan received PM Modi at the airport during his two-day visit, undertaken at the invitation of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.

Talks with King Abdullah II
During the visit, PM Modi will hold detailed discussions with King Abdullah II to review the full spectrum of India–Jordan relations and exchange views on key regional and global issues. He is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and members of the Indian community in Jordan. The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Jordan, offering an opportunity to deepen cooperation and reaffirm commitments to regional peace and stability.

Strong Bilateral Ties and Economic Engagement
This is PM Modi’s first full bilateral visit to Jordan and the first such visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 37 years. India and Jordan share strong political, economic, defence and people-to-people ties. India is Jordan’s third-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade valued at $2.8 billion. Jordan is a key supplier of fertilisers to India, and both countries are partners in major joint ventures, alongside growing investment, connectivity and a vibrant Indian diaspora contributing to bilateral relations.
