PM Modi: Budget Mirrors People’s Hopes and Growth Goals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Union Budget 2026–27 reflects the aspirations and confidence of 140 crore Indians, especially the youth and workers, and reinforces the government’s commitment to lasting economic reforms and inclusive development. The remarks underline how the annual fiscal plan aims to transform broad public expectations into actionable policy outcomes as India pursues long‑term progress.

Addressing the media ahead of Parliament’s Budget Session, the Prime Minister said that the President’s address to Parliament earlier in the year captured the trust and diverse aspirations of the nation, and that the newly presented Budget builds on that foundation to deliver growth, jobs and opportunities.

    ‘Reform Express’ and Long‑Term Vision

Modi reiterated the government’s focus on driving structural reforms to strengthen India’s economic engine. He described the ongoing policy agenda as a “Reform Express” that will continue to push forward with modernization, regulatory improvements, and strategic initiatives that support businesses, innovation and investment.

The Budget’s structure is built around key priorities including expanding manufacturing, enhancing infrastructure, boosting education and healthcare, and empowering young Indians with greater economic participation, reflecting a comprehensive development roadmap for the coming years.

    Growth and Infrastructure as Cornerstones

The 2026–27 Budget also allocates record levels of capital spending to infrastructure sectors, with billions earmarked for roads, railways, waterways and other critical projects aimed at strengthening India’s competitiveness and economic resilience. This investment push aligns with broader goals of job creation and increasing productivity across regions.

Modi emphasised that these investments are not just numbers on paper but reflect tangible opportunities for citizens in every state and sectorfrom young professionals and students to entrepreneurs and rural communities resonating with people’s aspirations for progress and improved quality of life.

    Public Confidence and Future Outlook

Highlighting India’s growing global stature, the Prime Minister pointed to international initiatives such as the India–EU free trade agreement as indicative of how domestic confidence is translating into broader economic partnerships. These developments, he said, show how the country’s democratic and demographic strengths are increasingly recognized on the world stage.

The Budget’s emphasis on both economic stability and reform underscores a message of continuity that while immediate public needs are met, India is also positioning itself for sustained long‑term growth and a future‑ready economy that benefits all 140 crore citizens.
