PM Modi Allocates Rs 1,600 Cr for Punjab, Rs 1,500 Cr for Himachal Flood Relief

New Delhi: After Himachal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Punjab. After this, he reached Gurdaspur. Here he interacted with the flood-affected farmers, NDRF and SDRF teams.

After holding a meeting with ministers and officials he announced Rs 1600 crore flood relief package for Punjab.

PM announces Rs 2 lakh ex gratia for the next of kin of the dead and Rs. 50,000 for the injured. Central Government assures all help for the restoration and rebuilding of infrastructure in the affected areas

Governor Gulab Chand Kataria was also present in the meeting. The AAP government of Punjab has demanded Rs 80 thousand crore from the Center.

He conducted an aerial survey of the damage in Kullu, Mandi and Chamba by helicopter. After this, he held a meeting regarding the disaster in Dharamshala, in which the officials informed him about the damage through a presentation.

During this, he announced financial assistance of Rs 1500 crore. The PM said that the central government will provide all possible help. The families of the deceased will be given financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each and the injured will be given Rs 50,000 each.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was also present in the meeting. After this, the Prime Minister met 18 affected people from Mandi, Kullu and Chamba districts and heard their stories. He also met one-year-old Nitika, whose mother, father and grandmother died in the flood caused by cloudburst in Mandi on June 30. The Prime Minister first gave a toffee to Nitika and then took her in his lap.

Now the PM has left for Punjab. In Gurdaspur, he will meet the flood-affected people and listen to their problems.

The AAP government of Punjab has demanded 80 thousand crore rupees from the center. Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu also said that a special relief package should be given.

Earlier, on September 5, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the flood-affected areas in Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala and met the victims.
