PM Modi Inaugurates Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Andhra Pradesh, Calls It Growth Engine for State

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district, describing it as a landmark infrastructure project that will strengthen connectivity and accelerate economic growth in the state.

The Prime Minister said the airport combines modern infrastructure, advanced technology and cultural identity, while paying tribute to freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju, after whom the airport has been named.

Airport to Boost Tourism, Trade and Employment

Sharing his views on the inauguration, PM Modi said the new airport will provide passengers with a modern and comfortable travel experience while giving a major push to tourism, commerce, investment and employment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.

He highlighted that the terminal building reflects the cultural heritage of the state and represents India’s vision of combining development with its traditions.

The airport has been designed with advanced facilities and sustainable features to improve operational efficiency and meet future aviation requirements.

PM Modi Highlights NDA Government’s Development Push

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said Andhra Pradesh has the potential to become a major growth engine for Viksit Bharat.

He said the NDA government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, is working towards the state’s development with a “double-engine” approach.

The Prime Minister added that railway projects worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore are currently underway in Andhra Pradesh to improve connectivity between industrial hubs and different regions.

Rail Network Modernisation and Better Connectivity

PM Modi said the entire railway network of Andhra Pradesh has been electrified and more than 70 railway stations in the state are being modernised.

He said improved air and rail connectivity will help attract investments, strengthen industries and create new employment opportunities.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was also present at the inauguration event and shared a message highlighting the airport’s role in shaping the state’s future growth.

The launch of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport marks a significant step towards expanding aviation infrastructure and improving regional connectivity in Andhra Pradesh.
