PM Modi, Israeli PM Netanyahu Discuss Stronger Strategic Ties, Reaffirm Zero-Tolerance on Terrorism

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, with both leaders agreeing to further deepen the India–Israel strategic partnership and reiterating their firm stand against terrorism.

Leaders Exchange New Year Greetings, Focus on Cooperation

During the call, PM Modi extended New Year greetings to Netanyahu and the people of Israel. The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the coming year.

Sharing details on social media platform X, PM Modi said they explored avenues to further boost the India–Israel Strategic Partnership, highlighting the strong and growing ties between the two nations.

Shared Resolve Against Terrorism

Apart from bilateral ties, the leaders also discussed the regional security situation, particularly developments in West Asia. Both reaffirmed their zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, stressing the need for stronger and more determined action against the global threat.

PM Modi emphasized India’s consistent position in supporting efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace in the region.

Recent Diplomatic Engagements Strengthen Ties

The phone conversation comes close on the heels of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit to Israel on December 17, where he met PM Netanyahu in Jerusalem. Jaishankar conveyed warm greetings from PM Modi and discussed expanding cooperation in key areas such as technology, economy, skills development, connectivity, and security.

Following the meeting, both leaders shared their appreciation for the dialogue on social media, underlining confidence in the future growth of the strategic partnership.

India Reaffirms Support for Peace in West Asia

During his visit, EAM Jaishankar also met Israeli President Isaac Herzog, reviewing progress in bilateral relations and reiterating India’s commitment to peace and stability in the region. He conveyed greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi, reaffirming India’s support for durable and just peace efforts, including early implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.

Strong Momentum in India–Israel Relations

This latest interaction follows another phone call between PM Modi and PM Netanyahu on December 10, during which both leaders expressed satisfaction over the steady momentum in bilateral relations.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, both sides strongly condemned terrorism in all forms and agreed to continue working closely to strengthen the India–Israel Strategic Partnership for mutual benefit.
