PM Modi Highlights Manipur Youth Bringing Solar Power to Hundreds

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the inspiring story of Manipur youth Moirangthem Seth in his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday.
He explained that Seth adopted solar energy to alleviate the power crisis in his area, and today, his efforts have brought light to hundreds of homes.
The Prime Minister said:
“Where there is a will, there is a way—this young man from Manipur has proved the saying true. He focused on local solutions and turned solar energy into his strength.”

Healthcare services and livelihoods also received support

PM Modi explained that Manipur’s geographical conditions are conducive to solar energy, and Seth initiated the Solar Panel Installation Campaign.

He added that this initiative is not limited to homes, but has also provided energy to several health centers and local businesses.

“Women, as well as local fishermen and artisans, have benefited greatly from this initiative,” the Prime Minister said.

Government also promoting solar energy

Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. He said that the government is providing financial assistance of ₹75,000 to ₹80,000 to each eligible family for installing solar panels.

He said that this scheme aims to provide up to 300 units of free electricity per month to over 10 million families, and people can also earn income by selling surplus electricity.

Finally, PM Modi said:
“Moirangthem’s effort is certainly personal, but it is giving new impetus to every campaign promoting solar energy in the country. I wish him all the best.”
