PM Modi Likely to Visit Chandigarh on July 17; PGI, Railway Station Projects Set for Inauguration, Haryana Visit Likely

Mohali: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Chandigarh on July 17, with the administration beginning preparations for the proposed tour. Although the Prime Minister’s Office has not officially confirmed the visit, sources said he is expected to inaugurate several key development projects, including major healthcare infrastructure at PGIMER. A visit to Haryana is also likely as part of the same tour.

₹1,000-Crore Projects Ready for Inauguration

Among the projects expected to be inaugurated are the 300-bed Advanced Eye Centre and Trauma Centre at PGIMER, built at a cost of around ₹495 crore, and the 300-bed Mother and Child Block, developed for approximately ₹485 crore. Together, the projects are aimed at significantly strengthening healthcare services in the region.

The Prime Minister is also expected to dedicate the Chandigarh Railway Station redevelopment project, worth around ₹117 crore, which includes modern passenger facilities and a city centre capsule.

Administration Begins Preparations

Security agencies and the Chandigarh administration have started making arrangements ahead of the proposed visit. Officials are coordinating with central agencies to finalise security and logistical plans.

Sources also indicated that after completing his engagements in Chandigarh, the Prime Minister may travel to Haryana. However, the complete itinerary is yet to be officially announced.

An official confirmation of the Prime Minister’s visit and programme is expected closer to the scheduled date.
