PM Modi to Visit Punjab on July 17, Inaugurate Revamped Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station

Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Punjab on July 17 to inaugurate the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantonment railway station under the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The visit will mark another milestone in the government’s ongoing railway modernisation initiative.

The Prime Minister is also expected to virtually dedicate around 75 completed Amrit Bharat Stations across the country during the event. The main programme is likely to be held at Jalandhar Cantonment, where preparations are currently underway.

Preparations in Full Swing Ahead of PM’s Visit

Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu recently reviewed preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit during a meeting with senior officials. He directed the administration to ensure that all arrangements, including security, infrastructure, traffic management and public facilities, are completed well in advance.

Security arrangements for the visit are being coordinated by Punjab Police, the Railway Protection Force and other central agencies.

Jalandhar Cantt Station Revamped Under Amrit Bharat Scheme

The redeveloped Jalandhar Cantonment railway station has been upgraded with modern passenger amenities under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The redevelopment includes improved station infrastructure, enhanced accessibility for passengers, modern waiting areas, better lighting, digital passenger information systems and upgraded public facilities. The project also focuses on preserving the station’s local architectural character while offering a better travel experience.

About the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is a flagship initiative of Indian Railways aimed at the phased redevelopment of more than 1,300 railway stations across the country. The scheme seeks to transform railway stations into modern transport hubs with improved passenger amenities, sustainable infrastructure, better accessibility and enhanced connectivity.

The July 17 event is expected to showcase the Centre’s continued focus on strengthening railway infrastructure in Punjab and across the country through the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
