    PM Modi Remembers Nana Patekar, Hails His Impact on Hindi and Marathi Cinema

    New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar. He described him as an actor with “depth, distinct personality, and a commanding presence” whose work will be remembered for generations to come.

    In a post on the social media platform X, PM Modi said that Nana Patekar brought his versatility and creativity to every role he played. He was also widely admired for his outspoken and forthright views.

    Modi said, “Very few actors have possessed the depth, distinct personality, and commanding presence that Nana Patekar ji possessed. He displayed remarkable versatility and creativity in every role, giving us characters that will be remembered for generations to come. He was also admired for his outspoken and forthright views. He never hesitated to express his beliefs and opinions.”

    The Prime Minister said that Nana Patekar’s contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema has been immense.

    He said, “Mr. Nana Patekar’s contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema was immense. His passing has left a deep void. I express my condolences to his family, friends, and countless fans. Om Shanti.”

    Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also condoled the veteran actor’s death and remembered his contributions to Indian cinema and social work.

    In a post on X, Yogi Adityanath described Nana Patekar’s death as an “irreparable loss” to the art world and praised his contributions to cinema and society.

    Yogi said, “The passing of Padmashree Nana Patekar, a renowned actor, a powerful theatre personality, and a sensitive social worker, is an irreparable loss to the art world.”

    He said that Nana Patekar enriched Indian cinema with his acting and also expressed his commitment to society through social concerns.

    The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said, “I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place in his feet and give the bereaved family and fans the strength to bear this loss.”

    Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed grief over Nana Patekar’s passing, remembering his powerful acting.

    Dhami said on X, “I received the extremely sad news of the passing away of renowned actor Nana Patekar ji. He created a distinct identity in Indian cinema through his powerful acting and impactful dialogue delivery. His brilliant performances in various roles enriched Hindi cinema. His passing is an irreparable loss to the film and art world. I pray to God to grant the departed soul a place in his feet and give the bereaved family and fans the strength to bear this loss.”

    Former Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik also expressed grief over the actor’s passing, remembering his unique dialogue delivery and ability to portray complex characters with ease.

    Patnaik said in a post, “Extremely saddened by the news of the passing of legendary actor Nana Patekar. His distinctive dialogue delivery and ability to effortlessly portray complex characters earned him a special place in Indian cinema.”

    Died of cardiac arrest

    Nana Patekar passed away at 5:20 am on Thursday. Dr. Shekhar Salkar, head of the oncology department at Manipal Hospital, told ANI over the phone that the actor suffered a cardiac arrest at his home.

    According to Dr. Salkar, Nana Patekar was administered CPR for 45 minutes after the cardiac arrest. He remained in a state of asystole during CPR. The doctor stated that the medico-legal case (MLC) has been completed, while a post-mortem is pending.

    Special recognition in Hindi and Marathi cinema

    Nana Patekar was one of the leading actors in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He made his acting debut with the 1978 film “Gaman.” He subsequently received critical acclaim for his performances in films such as “Parinda,” “Prahar,” “Angaar,” “Krantiveer,” “Tiranga,” “Khamoshi,” and “Ab Tak Chhappan.”

    Nana Patekar has remained active in films in recent years. He appeared in “Housefull 5,” starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, and others.

    75-year-old Nana Patekar also played a police officer in Vishal Bhardwaj’s “O Romeo,” starring Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri. He also made a cameo appearance in “Subedar,” starring Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan.
