PM Modi to Visit UAE Today; Talks to Focus on Energy and Strategic Ties

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a six-day foreign tour on Friday with an official visit to the United Arab Emirates aimed at strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During the visit, PM Modi will hold talks with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on bilateral cooperation, energy security, trade, investment, and regional issues.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the leaders will review progress in political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people ties while exploring ways to further deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Energy Cooperation High on Agenda

Energy security is expected to be one of the central themes of the visit.

According to official sources, two important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) related to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cooperation and strategic petroleum reserves are likely to be signed during the visit.

The MEA stated that the visit would also help strengthen trade and investment relations between the two nations. The UAE is currently India’s third-largest trade partner and the seventh-largest source of foreign investment over the past 25 years.

Officials also highlighted the importance of the Indian diaspora in the UAE, which includes more than 4.5 million Indians, making community welfare discussions another key focus area.

PM Modi’s Multi-Nation Europe Tour

MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George said PM Modi’s UAE visit will be followed by official visits to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy.

In the Netherlands, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, and Prime Minister Rob Jetten to discuss bilateral cooperation.

In Sweden, PM Modi will hold talks with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and jointly address the European Round Table for Industry alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The Prime Minister will then travel to Norway for the 3rd India-Nordic Summit before concluding the tour in Italy, where he is expected to meet President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
