PM Modi’s Visit to Jalandhar: Security Arrangements in Place Ahead of Guru Ravidas Jayanti

Jalandhar: Arrangements are being made for the security of PM Narendra Modi, who is visiting Punjab. Ahead of the PM’s visit, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav arrived in Jalandhar and held a security review meeting. The BJP leadership is also busy preparing to welcome PM Modi.

Regarding the PM’s welcome and food menu, BJP leaders said that there is no special menu from the BJP. During his previous visits, the PM has eaten langar while sitting in a row. This time too, he may eat langar while sitting at the Dham.

Regarding speculation that the BJP is trying to woo the Ravidassia community ahead of the PM’s visit, state president Sunil Jakhar said that the PM’s visit is a religious one. It should not be seen as politically motivated. Many leaders are linking it to the 2027 elections and are making statements with various demands.

Jakhar said that while the renaming of Adampur Airport is true, it was already decided. Now, many people, including the Aam Aadmi Party, are demanding it. The name change was finalized. The Prime Minister will make a formal announcement.

BJP Preparing for PM’s Welcome at Dera Ballan

Due to security concerns, the police have not released a full schedule. BJP leaders say the PM plans to stay at Dera Balla in Jalandhar for about 40 minutes. This includes a 15-minute speech.

The PM will also meet with Sant Niranjan Das, head of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, for 10 minutes. He will also have a 10-minute meeting with the Punjab leadership. After this, the PM will return to Delhi.

Extensive Security Measures for PM’s Visit

Before the PM’s visit, DGP Gaurav Yadav reached Jalandhar and took stock of the security. DGP told that before the Prime Minister’s visit to Jalandhar, security arrangements were reviewed on Friday afternoon. Senior officers have been given directions for strict surveillance, security check of the route and crowd management at Dera Sachkhand Ballan. Meanwhile, SPG (Special Protection Group) personnel have also been deployed at Dera Ballan for the PM’s security. There will be security at every nook and corner from Adampur to Dera Ballan.

No-Flying Zone and Additional Security Measures

The Additional District Magistrate has declared Jalandhar district as a no-flying zone from January 30, 2026, to February 1, 2026, to ensure the security of the Prime Minister under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023. As per the orders, flying of any type of civil remote-piloted aircraft system, drones and helicopters will be prohibited within the limits of Jalandhar district.

Traffic on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway will be affected.

Traffic police have diverted several routes in preparation for PM Modi’s visit to Dera Sachkhand Ballan. Exit and entry points have been set up at several locations. Millions of people will arrive at Dera Ballan on February 1st for Guru Ravidas Jayanti.

Due to this, traffic has been diverted on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway and the roads leading to Dera Ballan. Due to security concerns, the PM’s road route has not been determined, but VIP movement will be possible on this day due to the arrival of the Punjab Governor, Chief Minister, and senior BJP leaders.
